sounds good to me. If it stays violent then we have a winner. WIthout RAZOR there would be no Underworld, that guy ripped Hartsoe’s designs off big time

I think this is gonna ROCK. Razor kicked all kinds of ass in the 90’s. Plus razor started the BADGIRL craze of the 90’s

Posted by: Cross on May 17, 2009 at 18:27:37

Oh… and Razor was more than what they snorred through in that comment up above. Razor dealt with a woman who was addicted to the drug that gave her super powers as well as an addiction to violence and revenge that Batman seems to mostly gloss over. Razor was gritty… less super heroey.

Posted by: The Critiquer on May 17, 2009 at 14:33:47

I always loved Hartsoe’s Razor comic. This has to nearly be NC-17 to really capture the essence of the source material. Razor is a hot psycho vigilante babe who kills thugs by the bushel with her arm blades(think Batman’s arm blades in BB rather than Wolverine guys). Good thing they’re keeping the production cost low. This could be a modest success. I just wonder who’ll they’ll get for Razor and her archenemy, Lethal Stryke. Please don’t cheese this one up, hollywood. Keep it hardcore and keep it full of blood-lusting lethal hotties.

‘Razor’The same production company that first brought director Alex Proyas‘ “The Crow” to theaters and currently wants to revamp the franchise announced that it has a new comic book property in its stable. Jeff Most Prods. has joined with Arclight Films to produce a live-action adaption of Everette Hartsoe’s comic book series “Razor,” featuring a female vigilante from the makers of Carmen Electra’s “Vampire Embrace” comics.

The “Razor” adaptation will begin filming in Australia in 2010 to the tune of a $15 million budget, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Arclight has signed on to handle worldwide sales of the movie, which features lead heroine Nicole Mitchell, the daughter of a murdered LAPD detective who roams the lawless streets of L.A.’s Chinatown Batman-style by night.

“Razor” is survivor of the ’90s boom in pin-up friendly heroines that rocketed such dames as Lady Death, Shi, and Vampirella to the upper brackets of comic book sales charts. Originally published by Hartsoe’s London Night Studios, the character first grabbed eyes with her in-comics crossover alongside James O’Barr’s The Crow.

According to the creator’s website Hartsoe was voted the 18th most powerful person in comics by Combo Magazine in 1996 and “Razor: Burn” #1 landed a spot among Wizard Magazine’s top 20 comics of the year in 1997, a key indicator at the time for fanboy-favorite cheesecake series.

Arclight Films and Jeff Most Productions are set to produce a $15M live-action feature film adaptation of Everette Hartsoe’s female action hero comic Razor.

Razor is the alter ego of Nicole Mitchell, the daughter of an LAPD detective who is murdered when she is a child. She grows up to become a stealth fighter by night who protects the defenseless on the lawless streets of Chinatown, whilst helping disaffected teens during the day.

Razor was the flagship comic for Hartsoe’s London Night Studio’s, a major independent comic company in the 1990’s. In 1996, creator/founder Everette Hartsoe was voted the 18th most powerful person in comics by Combo Magazine. In 1997 Wizard Magazine voted Razor: Burn #1 as one of the top 20 comics of the year. Razor became the top selling female heroine comic of the 90’s with over 5 million comics in circulation.

In 1998 Hartsoe’s final graphic novel was published featuring a crossover between Razor and J. O’Barr’s The Crow. Jeff Most, who produced The Crow movie, will also produce Razor.
